Let’s take a look at what is coming in 2026 with the tried and true Ford Explorer. We’ll get a new trim, but continue to have the power and technology we have come to rely on from this mid-size SUV.
If you love your Explorer, but want to add a little more off-road fun to your life, then 2026 is your year! The Explorer is getting a new family member, the Tremor trim. The Tremor will have a standard 2.3L turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an optional 3.0L V6 available. It will have several off-road specific features such as more ground clearance and front and rear skid plates, as well as unique wheels and springs.
The Explorer has two available powertrain options. Standard for the Active, ST-Line, and Platinum is a 2.3 L four-cylinder engine rated for 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The Platinum also has the option for the 3.0 L V6 that comes standard on the ST trim. It is rated at 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. Both are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel and all-wheel drive are available.
The Explorer can tow up to 5,000 pounds and comes with a Class III Towing package, including a hitch, trailer wiring harness, and trailer sway control system.
Though the EPA hasn’t released the fuel economy ratings for 2026 yet, the 2025 Explorer was rated for 20 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. All-wheel drive lowered those ratings by 2 mpg.
This mid-size SUV will have three rows of seats with optional captain's chairs available for the front and second rows. The third row is best suited for children or short trips, as it is less roomy than you might like. If you’re hauling cargo instead of people, you’ll get 18.2 cubic feet behind the third row and up to 87.8 cubic feet behind the front row.
With Ford’s Digital Experience, you’ll get Ford’s latest software, Sync 4 on the 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen. It’s equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You’ll even be able to watch movies and play games while parked. A 12.3 digital gauge shows you the information needed while driving. And you’ll stay powered and connected with eight USB ports throughout the interior.
In 2026, as in the past, the Ford Explorer will be a great option for you and your family. Whether work or play, it has the power to get you there and back. The new Tremor trim can take you even further. All while enjoying the latest Ford technology. Contact Jarrett Ford of Dade City to get your new Explorer today.
